It is a warm water lake which makes it great for early and late season water sports, however, during several weeks in the summer algae grows in the water. It has been thoroughly studied and found to be harmless to humans, pets and boats, however it does effect the visibility in the water. We cannot guarantee the water visibility as temperatures quickly change the growth of the algae. Please visit our beautiful lake prior to reserving the cabin if you feel this would deter your stay as lake conditions will not be reason enough to cancel reservations. While rare, there are times when the power company releases water from the reservoir to maintain the dam, etc. We cannot guarantee the water level. If we are aware of a coming water level change, we will notify impacted reservations. Should an unknown water level change occur during your stay, we will reduce the rate by 50% or allow cancellations and refund the remaining days.

We have been awarded Super Host 4 times in less than a year . Shevlin Pines have 3 bedrooms , one with double bed , and the other two have queen beds. It sleeps six people. the home has been renovated to be like new but we kept the style of the original design even the furniture. The front yard has beautiful maple trees for shade in the summer and with fiery red leaves in the fall. It has white picket fence, new roof and new Windows. The view of Mt. Shasta from the private covered BBQ area is fantastic. Amenities include washroom (with washer and dryer) dishwasher, refrigerator, complete kitchen, wood stove (with wood) and an oil heater. it has dining area for family of six. It also has a large TV and WI~FI. and a game table. It feels like you could reach out and touch the majestic Mount Shasta. The ski resort is only down the road about 3 miles. The lighting is fantastic. A small horse and cattle operation is run by two local cowboys who are also officers of the law in town. Their occasional presence on the range will help guard your privacy and will add a layer of security. Bill and Tim (policeman and Sheriff respectively) know the area well and can provide excellent information about the regions extensive recreational opportunities. There is one main bathroom and an extra toilet in the laundry room area. With all of the water around, it is amazing that there are no Mosquitoes or other biting insects to speak of. The house sleeps 10-12 guests, which includes one Cal King bed, one Queen bed, two twin beds, and three hide-a-beds. This home was built in 2002 at the base of Mt Shasta and just minutes from downtown Mt Shasta. The property is very centrally located to skiing, hiking, swimming, and shopping. This cozy home was built to be ecologically friendly, comfortable for couples or families, and is surrounded by berry filled gardens. A combination of passive solar and super-insulation building technologies were implemented to withstand the extreme seasonal temperatures of this northern California mountain town. The interior finishes were constructed using locally harvested and recycled wood. The property (4,400 ft elevation) is located at the base of Mt Shasta and minutes to the Everett Memorial Hwy that begins in Mt Shasta City and ends at Panther Meadows (7500 ft elevation). SEASONAL ACTIVITIES IN THE MT SHASTA AREA Summertime in Mt Shasta is warm and dry- perfect for hiking, swimming in the glacial lakes and Lake Siskiyou (headwater to the Sacramento River), fishing, kayaking, berry picking, cycling (year-round), and even backcountry skiing. The light and colors of Autumn makes for lovely walks and gorgeous experiences checking out the local geologic features: Black Butte peak, Saturn Caves, and Hedge creek Falls, for example. Winter on the mountain is amazing for all ages and skill level- whether skiing at the Mt Shasta Nordic Ski Association or Mt Shasta Ski Park trails or carving your own backcountry trails on the mountain. Winter it is a magical time of year. Finally, Spring is for climbing the mountain, and any of the above, or grabbing a pair of binoculars, glass of wine in hand, and charting the route of your loved one ascending from the living room window!
